Community Action Financial Services
Community Action Financial Services is committed to provide low-moderate income families with a continuum of coordinated services in one location in order to better meet their housing and consumer credit needs and to build individual and community wealth. The Community Action Financial Services provides Lehigh Valley residents with pre-purchase & pre-settlement counseling, first-time home buyer seminars, financial fitness education, home ownership savings accounts, and mortgage foreclosure prevention counseling.
Community Action Development Corp. of Bethlehem
CADCB recognizes that affordable, quality housing is the foundation for a healthy, thriving community. Through partnerships with the City of Bethlehem, Lehigh Valley Community Land Trust (LVCLT), CACLV’s Community Action Financial Services (CAFS), and Lehigh University, CADCB works to improve the quality of south Bethlehem’s housing stock and encourage homeownership. CADCB’s residential façade improvement program has completed nine façades on Hayes Street, and continues to complete approximately four to six façades per year in the strategic gateways to south Bethlehem on Hayes and Wyandotte Streets.
Community Action Development Corp. of Allentown
Community Action Development Corporation of Allentown, Housing Association and Development Corporation, and the Wells Fargo Regional Foundation are working to implement the goals set by the community members that created the Connecting Jordan Heights plan. Neighborhood residents can join the cause, fight back, voice their concerns, and make use of the services that are in place to help.
Sixth Street Shelter
The Sixth Street Shelter is a long-standing program of the Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley. Since 1984, the Shelter has been providing temporary housing for Lehigh Valley homeless families with children.
The Weatherization program provides Residential Weatherization Services, Energy Assistance Services, and services through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Crisis Program. Each program includes certain energy-saving home improvements and consumer education aimed at reducing energy consumption.
Residential services provided include PPL WRAP program, FirstEnergy WARM program, UGI Low Income Usage Reduction Program and the PA Department of Community and Economic Development Weatherization Assistance Program.
